Why are Configuration Fields Grayed Out?
When you are configuring a WITS database item in Geo SCADA Expert, certain settings on the configuration Forms may be 'grayed out' (unavailable). This is usually because of one of the following reasons:
- Your ViewX user account does not have the Configure permission.
- Your Field Device does not support the feature to which the grayed out setting relates. For example, if your Field Device does not support firmware downloads, the Firmware section on the WITS Outstation Form is unavailable ('grayed out'). You can see which WITS features are supported by your Field Device by displaying its Device Profile (see Display a WITS Device Profile)
- If Group Templates and Group Instances are used, configuration fields can appear 'grayed out' due to the Template-Instance relationship. By default, only the settings that have to be unique for each item are available for items in a Group Instance (they inherit the other settings from the corresponding item in the Group Template). If required, you can use Property Overrides to make changes to settings that have been inherited.
