Configuring Analog Points
In addition to the analog points mentioned below, Geo SCADA Expert can support other types of analog point using an Advanced Modbus Extension Driver. For information on any Modbus points not listed below, see the relevant Advanced Modbus driver extension guide.
The Advanced Modbus driver supports Generic Modbus Analog Input points and Analog Output points.
Configure the properties for each analog point using the fields on the Generic Modbus Analog Input Point Form, or the Generic Modbus Analog Output Point Form, as appropriate.
This section covers configuration of properties on the Analog Point tab of each Form, and the properties on the Control tab of the Generic Modbus Analog Output Point Form. For information on the fields on other tabs, see Tabs on Point Forms.
For Generic Modbus Analog Input or Analog Output points, use the Analog Point tab to:
- Configure the General Generic Modbus Analog Point Properties
- Configure Alarm Limits
- Configure any Alarm Limit Profiles (see Specify any Alarm Limit Profiles)
- Define the Point Scaling
- Define the Point Formatting (see Define the Appearance of an Analog Point’s Values)
- Specify the Override Properties (see Define whether an Analog Point can be Overridden)
- Specify the Significant Change Properties
- Configure the No Change Properties (see Detect whether an Analog Point has Stopped Changing).
- Specify the Trend Properties (see Define an Analog Point’s Trend Settings).
For Generic Modbus Analog Output points there are two additional tabs: a Control Tab and a Control Checks tab.
Use the Control tab to:
- Configure the Control Properties (see Define the Control Settings for an Analog Output Point)
- Specify whether any Controllers are given Scanning Priority whenever a Control Action is Issued (see Promoting Scanning of Outstations Associated with Controls).
You can optionally use the Control Checks tab to configure the Control Checks settings (see Configuring Control Checks Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration).
