Configuring Digital Points
NOTE:This section provides information about ‘Generic’ digital points. If your system is running an Advanced Modbus Extension Driver, other types of Advanced Modbus digital point might be available. For information about non-generic Advanced Modbus digital points, see the relevant Advanced Modbus extension driver guide.
The Advanced Modbus driver supports 1-, 2-, and 3-bit Digital Input points and Digital Output points.
Configure the properties for each Digital point using the fields on the Generic Modbus Digital Input Point Form, or the Generic Modbus Digital Output Point Form, as appropriate.
This section covers configuration of properties on the Digital Point tab of both Generic Modbus Digital Point Forms, and the properties on the Control tab for Digital Output points. The properties on other tabs are common to points on many advance drivers (see Tabs on Point Forms).
Use the Digital Point tab to:
- Configure Common Point Properties
- Point State Properties
- Define Override Properties (see Define whether a Digital Point can be Overridden)
- Define Trend Properties (see Define a Digital Point’s Trend Settings).
For Generic Modbus Digital Output Points, there are two additional tabs: a Control Tab and a Control Checks tab.
Use the Control tab to:
- Configure the Control Actions (see Define the Control Settings for a Digital Output Point)
- Specify whether any Controllers are given Scanning Priority whenever a Control Action is Issued (see Promoting Scanning of Outstations Associated with Controls)
- Specify the Type of Control Operation
- Specify Whether to Update the Point Value Immediately Following a Control.
You can optionally use the Control Checks tab to configure the Control Checks settings (see Configuring Control Checks Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration).
