Method Action (User)

A Method Action (User) redirection action enables you to trigger an action on an item in the database. The execution of the action is restricted to a specific user, to every user in a User Group, or to the nominated individual on a User Roster. If your system uses Geo SCADA Expert's Geographical Location features, you can configure Method Action (User) redirection actions to redirect alarms based on the region with which the alarms are associated. With such a redirection setup, Geo SCADA Expert redirects the alarms to users that are in the same geographical region as the database item with which the alarm is associated (see Control Alarm Redirection by Geographical Region).

A Method Action (User) redirection action also enables you to optionally extend Geo SCADA Expert's alarm redirection functionality. For example, you might write a DDK driver that enables Geo SCADA Expert to interface with a third-party alarm redirection application that provides voice alarm announcements. You could then configure Method Action (User) redirection actions to trigger those voice alarm announcements based on the geographical location of the database item with which the alarms are associated, while restricting those announcements to specific users. For example, to notify on-call users via an automated phone call.

You need to configure a separate Method Action (User) redirection action for each different action that you want to occur. You also need to specify the individual database item on which that action is to be performed, and ensure (for voice alarm annunciation) that the intended recipients' user accounts have the relevant pager contact details configured.
