ODBC Logging

Each application that uses ODBC to access the database generates a separate set of log files. The log files are stored on the computer on which the application is running. Each log file has a name that includes the process ID of the application (in hexadecimal). The process ID part of the file name is used to indicate the application to which the log file relates. For example, an application with a process ID 03B0 could produce a log file named 'DBOdbc03B0_001.log'.

If you require ODBC logging, you need to define the ODBC logging settings. Typically, you will need to do this on a client PC by editing the registry settings (see Using a Registry Editor to Change Client Log File Settings).

To display an ODBC log file, you need to:

1. Use Windows Explorer to locate the ODBC log file. The log files are stored at the location that is specified in the LogFileBase registry setting.

   The default location of the LogFileBase registry setting is:

   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\DBObdc\LogFileBase

   (If the log files are not at this location, a different path might be specified in the registry (see Using a Registry Editor to Change Client Log File Settings).)

2. Open the ODBC log file in a text editor program, for example, Microsoft Windows Notepad.
