Specify the Area of Interest Associated with a Point’s State-Related Alarms and Events
If the Area of Interest feature is enabled on your system, an additional Area of Interest field is displayed within the Alarm Limits section on the <Point Type> tab.
Use the Area of Interest field to specify the area with which any state-related point alarms or events are to be associated. This includes any events or fleeting alarms that relate to the point returning to its Normal state (where supported by the point type).
If a point value exceeds a limit that is configured to generate an event or alarm, that event or alarm will be associated with this Area of Interest. As such, only users that have access to this Area of Interest will be aware of the event or alarm.
For more information on configuring Areas of Interest, see Assign a Different Area of Interest to an Item’s Alarms and Events in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration.

If the Multiple Point State Alarms feature is used to assign multiple ‘Point State’ alarm conditions to a counter-type point, a separate Area of Interest section is displayed on the <Point Type> tab. The section contains multiple Area of Interest fields—one for the ‘Normal’ state and one for each ‘Point State’ alarm condition (see Use Multiple Point State Alarms in Conjunction with Areas of Interest).
