Configure a DNP3 Virtual Terminal
Use the DNP3 Virtual Terminal Form to specify the properties of a Virtual Terminal. The DNP3 Virtual Terminal Form has several tabs. Properties on the following tabs are common to many database items—for information on these properties, see the references listed below:
- Identification—Use to define the Identification properties of the virtual terminal (see Defining Identification Details in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration).
-
Location—Use to specify the item's geographical coordinates. (You need only configure the properties on this tab if your system uses Geo SCADA Expert's Geographical Location features.)
- User Methods—Use to define any custom pick actions (‘methods’) for the virtual terminal (see Using the User Methods Tab to Define Custom Actions in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration).
Use the fields on the Virtual Terminal tab to link a DNP3 VT Service Port Master to a DNP3 outstation:
- In Service—Use to specify whether the virtual terminal is active or inactive (see Placing an Item In Service in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration).
- Outstation—Specify the DNP3 outstation on which the virtual terminal is located. Use the browse button to display a Reference browse window and select the required outstation from the window.
- Virtual Terminal Number—Allocate a unique ID number to the virtual terminal. The number is used to uniquely identify the outstation port through which communications are being routed. The number has to be the same as the port identifier for the outstation. Where the port is on a DNP3 Slave outstation, the Virtual Terminal Number has to be identical to the Point Number on the corresponding VT Service Port Slave Form (see Configure a VT Service Port Slave).
- Enter the required number, which has to be within the range 0 to 65534.
- Master Port—Specify the VT Service Port Master with which the virtual terminal is associated. Use the browse button to display a Reference browse window and select the required service port from the window.
