Configuring DNP3 String Points

The Geo SCADA Expert DNP3 driver supports DNP3 String points.

DNP3 String points allow text strings to be passed between a DNP3 outstation and the SCADA master (Geo SCADA Expert).

Example:

An outstation contains a string point that stores a dial-up modem initialization string. A DNP3 String Point in the Geo SCADA Expert database is used to set the string to a value, such as ATE0V0X0.

Another string point in the outstation stores the name of the logic program that is running at the outstation. A DNP3 String Point in the Geo SCADA Expert database is used to read the name of the program from the outstation.

Configure the properties of each string point using the fields on the DNP3 String Point Form.

This section covers the configuration of properties that are specific to DNP3 String Points, on the String Point tab of the Form.

Use the String Point tab to:

The fields on other tabs are common to points on many advanced drivers—see Tabs on Point Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers.
