Minimum Configuration
For each DNP3 point, you need to specify the following properties on the appropriately named <Point Type> tab (as a minimum):
- The outstation on which the point is located (except for Frozen Counter Points).
- A unique point number (for Pulse (Trip-Close), two numbers are required—one for each action).
- For integer-type analog points, any scaling that is required to convert the raw point value into an engineering value for use by the server.
- For Frozen Counter Points, you need to specify the Counter Point that is the Frozen Counter Point’s parent point.
- For Pulse Points, you need to specify the on and off time for each control action.
You also need to put the point In Service and save the configuration. When the configuration settings are saved and in place, the point is functional (and uses the default configuration settings).
If you want the Geo SCADA Expert server to store point data historically, you also need to:
- Enable and configure logging on the Historic tab if data is to be stored historically on the server database.
- Enable and configure logging on the <Point Type> tab if data is to be stored historically at the outstation.
