Specify Whether DNP3 Secure Authentication is Used
Use the Enabled check box at the top of a DNP3 Outstation’s Security tab to specify whether any outstation transmissions are to use DNP3 Secure Authentication:
Clear the check box if DNP3 Secure Authentication is not used for any transmissions to or from this outstation. An outstation that does not use DNP3 Secure Authentication is known as a non-secure device. Messages sent to or from the outstation are transmitted in the normal way, using the DNP3 protocol (see Scanning for Data on DNP3 Devices). None of the messages are challenged by the receiving device before being processed.
Select the Enabled check box if DNP3 Secure Authentication is to be used for critical transmissions to and/or from this outstation. To use this feature, the outstation has to support DNP3 Secure Authentication version 2.00. You can define the outstation’s DNP3 Secure Authentication properties by using the other fields on the Security tab.
