Specify Whether DNP3 Secure Authentication is Used
Use the Enabled check box at the top of a DNP3 Slave Outstation’s Security tab to specify whether the Slave outstation uses DNP3 Secure Authentication:
- Clear the check box if DNP3 Secure Authentication is not used for any transmissions to or from this Slave outstation. Cleared is the default setting for the Enabled check box.
- A Slave outstation that does not use DNP3 Secure Authentication is known as a non-secure device. Messages sent to or from the Slave outstation are transmitted in the normal way, using the DNP3 protocol (see Scanning for Data on DNP3 Devices). None of the messages are challenged by the receiving device before being processed.
- Select the Enabled check box if DNP3 Secure Authentication is to be used for critical transmissions to and/or from this Slave outstation (Geo SCADA Expert). The Slave’s DNP3 master(s) has to support DNP3 Secure Authentication version 2.00. Use the rest of the fields on the Security tab to define the Slave outstation’s DNP3 Secure Authentication properties.
