Control the DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Output Point

To control the DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Output point that you configured earlier in this tutorial:

  1. Ensure that the Mimic that you created for this tutorial is in Run mode.
  2. Click on the DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Output Point on the Mimic.
A context sensitive menu is displayed.
  3. Select the Control option.
    The Control window is displayed.
  4. Enter a value between 0 and 100.
  5. Continue sending controls to the DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Output Point—send controls that change the output by amounts greater than 1.0, and controls that change the output by amounts smaller than 1.0.
  6. View the DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Input Point’s value on the Mimic. Notice that when the output value changes by 1.0 or more, the input value is updated. When the output value changes by less than 1.0, the input value remains unchanged. This is due to the input point’s Significant Change settings.

If you open the DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Input Point’s Form, on the Analog Point tab you will see that the Significant Change Type is Percentage of Span, and the Deadband is 1. This means that the input has to change by 1% for the SCADAPack ES outstation in order to generate an event.

  1. Display the Historic Lists of the DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Input and DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Output Points. (For information on Historic Lists, see the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Lists).

Congratulations—you have completed this Quick Start Tutorial!
