On Scan

Associated with: DNP3 SCADAPack E outstations and DNP3 SCADAPack Remote E outstations; DNP3 SCADAPack points and pulse actions

Security permission required to access this pick action: Off/On Scan

Use the On Scan pick action to place an item that is currently Off Scan back to its fully functioning ‘On Scan’ state.

The ability to place points and outstations On Scan is disabled on most systems by default. (Its permission is typically denied on a per server basis.) The On Scan pick action is also disabled on points and pulse actions that have been taken ‘Off Scan’ using the ‘Include Points’ option on the outstation’s ‘Off Scan’ pick action (see Off Scan).

An item is ‘On Scan’ when it has valid saved configuration, is In Service, and Geo SCADA Expert is able to communicate successfully with the device that the item represents.

When you select the On Scan pick action for an outstation, an On Scan window is displayed.

Select the window’s Include Points check box if the outstation’s dependants, such as points and pulse actions, are also to be placed back On Scan. Leave the check box clear if the outstation’s dependants are to remain Off Scan, or were not taken Off Scan.

With PSTN or ‘On Demand’ outstations and points and pulse actions on such outstations, the On Scan window may display a Queue check box. Use the check box to indicate whether Geo SCADA Expert is to perform the request immediately, or queue the request if Geo SCADA Expert is not currently in communications with the outstation (see Queue Check Box in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Drivers).

The entry that is logged in the Events List when the pick action is triggered on an outstation indicates whether the On Scan request includes that outstation’s points.

Each item’s Scanning status attribute indicates whether that item is currently On or Off Scan.
