Minimum Configuration - Outstation
This topic relates to outstations on the EtherNet/IP driver. The EtherNet/IP driver supports Direct Outstations and Shared Outstations.
When you add an item to the database, various properties on the item's configuration Form are assigned a value automatically. These default values are assigned on creation of the database item, to help reduce the amount of manual configuration that is required. As such, you only need configure a subset of the properties that exist on an item's configuration Form. Typically, the properties you have to configure include:
- Those properties that require a value, but for which the property field is blank
- Those properties for which the value needs to differ from the default.
For an outstation on this driver to be capable of functioning in Geo SCADA Expert, as a minimum you have to configure the following:
- Outstation Set—Located on the Outstation tab. This is the outstation set to which the outstation belongs.
- Micro800—Located on the EtherNet/IP tab. Select this check box if the Outstation represents a controller that is in the Micro800 range of Allen-Bradley hardware.
- Slot Number—Located on the EtherNet/IP tab. This field only applies if the controller does not belong to the Micro800 range of controllers. Specify the number of the slot that the controller occupies in the rack in which it is located.
- Host Address—Located on the Network tab. This is the host address of the controller. Use the browse button to display a Reference browse window and then select the required entry from the window.
- Port—Located on the Network tab. Specify port number 44818. This is the port that EtherNet/IP uses when it establishes a TCP connection.
The port number 44818 is registered for use by EtherNet/IP with the IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority).
With a Shared Outstation, you also have to configured the Shared properties, located on the Shared tab.
Also ensure that the outstation and the database items on which it depends are In Service, and have saved, valid configuration. This will produce an outstation that is capable of functioning using the default configuration settings.
