Which Driver?

Geo SCADA Expert is able to communicate with Allen-Bradley controllers using one of the several drivers. Which driver you use depends on your system set-up, configuration requirements, and the type(s) of Allen-Bradley controllers with which Geo SCADA Expert is to communicate.

The EtherNet/IP driver enables Geo SCADA Expert to use the EtherNet/IP protocol to communicate with certain ranges of Allen-Bradley controllers (see Configure an EtherNet/IP Outstation).

The DF1 driver enables Geo SCADA Expert to use the DF1 protocol to communicate with Allen-Bradley controllers.

With new installations in which the Allen-Bradley controllers are supported by both drivers, we recommend that you use the EtherNet/IP the driver. This latter driver will give you more flexibility should your system requirements change in the future.
