Configure the Properties of an IO Image Scanner

You use a Hilscher IO Image Scanner to scan a Hilscher card on a system that uses DeviceNet or PROFIBUS-DP fieldbuses.

The fields on the Scanner tab of the Hilscher IO Image Scanner Form are common to scanners on the Hilscher driver—for information, see Configure the Basic Scanner Properties.

If the Scanner is to scan a PROFIBUS-DP card that is set to ‘Bus synchronous and host controlled’, you need to set an appropriate Scan Rate. This is because such a card needs to be scanned frequently—if it is scanned less frequently than every 100ms, the devices on the bus may report a Bus Error whenever the bus appears to be inactive. By setting the scanner to scan the card more frequently than every 100ms, the bus stays active. (A card that is set as ‘Bus synchronous and host controlled’ only scans a bus when its host requests data from that card. In this case, the host is Geo SCADA Expert).
