Configuring an IEC 60870-5 Outstation Set
In addition to the outstation set mentioned below, Geo SCADA Expert can support other types of IEC 60870-5 outstation sets, using an IEC 60870-5 Extension Driver. For information on any IEC 60870-5 outstation set not listed below, see the relevant IEC 60870-5 extension driver guide.
For outstations that communicate with the server using the IEC 60870-5-101 protocol or IEC 60870-5-104 protocol, you need to configure one IEC 60870-5 Direct Outstation Set for each group of outstations that communicate via a particular channel.
Configure each set using the fields on the IEC 60870-5 Direct Outstation Set Form, (see Configuring an Outstation Set in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers).
There are no driver-specific properties for IEC 60870-5 Direct Outstation Sets.
The Geo SCADA Expert IEC 60870-5 Driver supports these types of outstation sets:
-
IEC 60870-5 Direct Outstation Set—A set in which the outstations use a single direct channel to communicate with the server. You need to configure one IEC 60870-5 Direct Outstation Set for each group of IEC 60870-5 outstations that communicate via a particular direct channel.
- IEC 60870-5 Shared Outstation Set—Used when redundant direct connections exist from the Geo SCADA Expert server to the IEC 60870-5 outstation. Each outstation in the set can use either channel to communicate with the Geo SCADA Expert server.
-
IEC 60870-5 Switched Outstation Set—Used when redundant direct connections exist from the Geo SCADA Expert server to the IEC 60870-5 outstation. All of the outstations in the set use the same channel at the same time.
