Throughout this guide, any device (for example, an outstation or RTU) with which Geo SCADA Expert communicates using either the IEC 60870-5-101 protocol, or the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol is referred to as an ‘IEC 60870-5 device’.
Similarly, any input or output on such a device is referred to as an ‘IEC 60870-5 point’.
Every IEC 60870-5 device has an interoperability Profile document that describes what functionality is provided. You need access to this document, or need to be aware of which functions each device supports, when configuring IEC 60870-5 items in Geo SCADA Expert.
