Minimum Configuration

For an IEC 60870-5 point to be functional (online), you need to configure these features, then put the point In Service and save the configuration:

• The Outstation on which the point is located
• The Information Object Address
• If the point is a Digital Point, the Number of Bits that make up the point
• If the point is a Digital Output Point, you need to enable the required number of control Actions.

The settings above are the minimal requirements for a functional IEC 60870-5 outstation.

If you want the Geo SCADA Expert server to store point data historically, you also need to:

• Enable and configure logging on the Historic tab if data is to be stored historically in the server database
• Enable and configure logging on the <Point Type> tab if data is to be stored historically at the outstation.
