Secondary Normal Phase

The Secondary Normal Phase of a System Scan is used to extract logged data from as many outstations as possible in the available time. Each set of transactions (visits) with an outstation will be limited to a maximum user configurable duration known as the Maximum Secondary Scan per Outstation time (see Maximum Secondary Phase Time).

Outstations are scanned for secondary data in ascending outstation number order. Unlike the Primary Normal Phase, the time available to retrieve secondary data during a system scan is limited - the Secondary Normal Phase cannot continue if the System Scan time expires.

If the Secondary Normal Phase is incomplete when the System Scan time expires, the Secondary Normal Phase is suspended (see System Scan Interval). On subsequent System Scans, secondary data extraction will continue from where it was suspended on the previous scan.
