Example Configuration

This example shows how Geo SCADA Expert might be configured to act as a Mitsubishi MELSEC A PLC, in order to report its data to a Master, using the Mitsubishi MELSEC A protocol.

Example:

A Geo SCADA Expert system is to emulate a MELSEC A AnACPU PLC. The Geo SCADA Expert database is to be configured so that Geo SCADA Expert can transmit data for the following devices to its Mitsubishi Master:

  • Inputs X000001 and X000003
  • Link Registers W00000B and W00000C.

Within Geo SCADA Expert, a Mitsubishi Slave Channel is suitably configured to transmit data to the Mitsubishi Master.

A Mitsubishi Slave Source is configured to emulate an AnACPU PLC and to use the above channel. In this particular example, the Source is assigned the Mitsubishi Node ID of 6.

In a MELSEC A PLC, Input X data is allocated in Bits. Within Geo SCADA Expert, a BIT Value Map is configured to emulate the Input X memory area. As Geo SCADA Expert is to transmit data for Inputs X00001 and X00003, addresses 1 and 3 of the BIT Value Map are populated with the database items that represent those Inputs. (Address 1 of the BIT Value Map is the equivalent of Mitsubishi address 000001, and address 3 is the equivalent of Mitsubishi address 000003.)

For the BIT Value Map to represent Input X data, the Value Map (named ‘PLC 6 Inputs’) is specified as the Input X Map property on the Mitsubishi Slave Source Form.

    This means that:

  • Geo SCADA Expert transmits the BIT Value Map data as Input X data
  • The entries that populate the BIT Value Map emulate MELSEC A PLC addresses X00001 and X00003.

Link Register data is allocated in Words in a MELSEC A PLC.

In Geo SCADA Expert, a WORD Value Map is configured to emulate the Link Register memory area. As Geo SCADA Expert is to transmit data for Link Registers W00000B and W00000C, addresses 11 and 12 of the WORD Value Map are populated with the database items that represent those Link Registers. (11 is the decimal equivalent of Mitsubishi hexadecimal address 00000B, and 12 is the decimal equivalent of Mitsubishi hexadecimal address 00000C.)

For the WORD Value Map to represent Link Register data, the Value Map (named ‘PLC 6 Link Registers’) is specified as the Link Register W Map property on the Mitsubishi Slave Source Form.

    This means that:

  • Geo SCADA Expert transmits the WORD Value Map data as Link Register W data
  • The entries that populate the WORD Value Map emulate MELSEC A PLC addresses W00000B and W00000C.
