Use the fields on the Channel tab to define the general properties for a channel. Many of the fields on this tab are common to channels on many simple drivers (see Configure the Basic Channel Properties in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers). Fields that are specific to Modbus channels are explained below:

- Switch After n scanners have failed—Where a channel can use either the primary or secondary port, communications can be swapped to the other line. This is useful if an unexpected problem occurs with communications on the line that is currently in use.
Use the Switch After n scanners have failed field to specify how many scanners on the channel have to fail before the server automatically switches lines. When the server switches lines, it attempts to re-establish communications with each of the scanners that are using the channel.
