The Multitone protocol was developed by Multitone Electronics PLC for use with Multitone pager systems. Usually, Multitone pager systems are site-based systems with some or all of the pager devices situated locally (within range of the transmitter).
With Multitone systems, Geo SCADA Expert communicates with a Multitone pager by using the pager driver to send a message to the Multitone devices (encoder, transmitter, and so on). This message is then broadcast to the relevant Multitone pager device. However, the Multitone pager device can only receive the message if it is within the signal range of the transmitter.
