Specify Whether Geo SCADA Expert can Suspend Polling of a Controller
Polling of a SCADAPack controller needs suspending under certain circumstances, such as to allow software to be written to a controller. Polling is typically suspended via a Remote Connection interface.
Use the fields in the Suspend Polling section of the SCADAPack tab to specify whether to allow Geo SCADA Expert to postpone polling of a SCADAPack controller and for how long.
- Allowed—Select this check box for Geo SCADA Expert to be able to postpone polling of a controller, for the time specified in the Duration field. Once enabled, polling can be suspended using the Suspend Polling pick action.
Clear the Allowed check box if Geo SCADA Expert is not to postpone polling of the controller.
- Duration—Use to specify the time period for which Geo SCADA Expert can postpone polling a controller. Enter the time in the OPC Time Format, for example 5M for a five-minute duration.
If you intend to update the firmware in a controller using the Firmware Loader® program, specify a duration that is long enough to cover the entire firmware load. The time required varies, depending on the type of controller and communications channel used.
Example:
A Duration of 20M (20 minutes) is sufficient to update the firmware in a SCADAPack controller that is using a 9600 baud serial channel.
