Configuring an SDI-12 Channel
You need to configure an SDI-12 Channel for every SDI-12 bus over which Geo SCADA Expert will extract sensor data (using the SDI-12 protocol). To do this, you need to add SDI-12 Channel items to the Geo SCADA Expert database and then use the SDI-12 Channel Form to define the appropriate settings.
The SDI-12 Channel Form has several tabs:
- Use the fields on the Channel tab to configure the basic channel properties (see Configure the Basic Channel Properties in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers).
- Use the fields on the Connection tab to specify the properties of the serial connection that the SDI-12 driver uses to communicate with the SDI-12 devices on this channel (see Configure a Channel’s Serial Connection Properties in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Drivers).
For information on the properties on other tabs, see Tabs That are Common to Many Configuration Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers.
There are no driver-specific fields on the SDI-12 Channel Form.
ATTENTION: Each channel has to use an RS-232 to SDI-12 adapter. These are available from various suppliers. A list of companies that supply SDI-12 products is included on the SDI-12 website, www.sdi-12.org.
