Define Descriptions for Numeric Point States
You can use the Descriptions section of the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool to define the numeric point state descriptions that are available. The descriptions are accessed via the Description combo boxes for alarm limits on the Forms for several types of point.
Descriptions for numeric point states are available for selection in the alarm limit Description combo boxes on the Analog Point Form.
The descriptions define the options that are available from the Description combo boxes. The descriptions can be overridden with manual entries if required.
To add numerical point state descriptions:
- Access the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool (see Accessing the Geo SCADA Expert Server Configuration Tool).
- Expand the Database Configuration branch.
- Select Descriptions.
The Descriptions section is shown. - Select the Add button in the Numerical Point States section.
A new description is added to the list of Numerical Point States descriptions. It is selected automatically, ready for you to enter the description. - Enter the required description, for example, Very High.
- Press the Enter key to confirm the entry.
The custom description is now an option on the Description combo boxes for the analog point alarm limits.
To check that the Numerical point state description has been configured, display the Form for an analog point, select the Analog Point tab, and select a Description combo box—the custom description should be available.
You can define more descriptions or continue with the server configuration process. For more information, see the topics that are listed in the gray footer section at the bottom of this topic. Select the relevant entry to display the topic that you require.
