Points Used on Simatic S7 Scanners

Simatic S7 Scanners can support the Analog Points and Digital Points.

You configure the Simatic S7 points on your system using the Simatic S7 Analog Point Form, or the Simatic S7 Digital Point Form, as appropriate.

Each Form has several tabs.

You define the Area of memory that each Scanner is to scan using the relevant fields on the Scanner Form (see Configure the Scan Properties). You then define the location of the specific items of data with which each point is associated and the Scanner that is to scan that data, using properties on the Simatic S7 tab on each Point Form.

Use the Enabled check box on the Control tab to specify whether a particular point is used as an Input point or an Output point. An Input point is used to retrieve data from a read-only memory area on a Simatic S7 PLC, whereas an Output point is used to write data to a read/write memory area:
