Install OPC Factory Server

You only need to follow the instructions in this topic if your system includes OPC clients, and those OPC clients are to access to the features of Schneider Electric PLCs.

In order for OPC clients to connect to Schneider Electric PLCs (such as Modicon Quantum, Premium, M340, Micro, Nano, Momentum, and so on), those clients communicate with the PLCs via a Schneider Electric OPC server. In order for a server machine to function as a Schneider Electric OPC server, it has to be running OPC Factory Server software.

When used with Unity PRO PLCs, the OPC Factory Server software provides a native and direct symbolic access to any located or unallocated variable from the PLC.

To install OPC Factory Server on a Geo SCADA Expert server machine:

1. Log on to the server machine via a Windows user account that has Administrator permissions.
2. Use Programs and Features, accessed from the Control Panel in Windows®, to check whether an earlier version of OPC Factory Server is already installed. If so, uninstall that version of OPC Factory Server. For more information about how to uninstall an application, see the Windows help.
3. Run the Geo SCADA Expert Installer and select the Install OPC Factory Server option.
4. Follow any instructions in the Setup wizard to install the OPC Factory Server software.
   
5. Repeat this procedure on any other Geo SCADA Expert servers that are to operate as a Schneider Electric OPC server.
