Interlock Points

On SCADAPack E outstations, you can optionally control points and pulse actions from both Geo SCADA Expert and ISaGRAF. So that both applications do not attempt to control the same point or pulse action at the same time, you need to set up one or more Interlock Points.

Each Interlock Point has to be on the same outstation as the output point or pulse action for which it provides interlock functionality.

An interlock point can be either:

You can associate the same interlock point with one or more DNP3 SCADAPack output points and pulse actions, in order to determine whether Geo SCADA Expert or ISaGRAF is in control of those output point(s) or pulse action(s).

ATTENTION: A point that is used as an interlock point must not be used as any other type of status point (such as a Rate of Change point).

Example:

A DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Output point with a User (Derived) Point Type is configured as the interlock point for a DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Output point. The interlock point allows Geo SCADA Expert to control the interlock in the SCADAPack E outstation, by enabling Geo SCADA Expert to remotely ‘disconnect’ ISaGRAF’s control of the analog output point.

A DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Input point is configured as the interlock point for another DNP3 SCADAPack Output point. This particular interlock point is connected to a switch on site, which itself enables ISaGRAF’s control of the output point to be disconnected, so allowing the output point to be controlled via DNP3.
