Specify the Outstation Identification Strings
Use the fields and check box in the Identification Strings section of the SCADAPack tab to specify:
- Identification information about an outstation
- Whether or not point descriptions should be included in a configuration download from Geo SCADA Expert to an outstation.
You can specify the following:
- Location Name—Enter the name or code of the location where the outstation is installed. You can enter text in any format. For example, "1267 Main Street", "Highfield Reservoir" or "SO 12300 45678".
If you employ a naming convention that includes sub-fields, we recommend that you use a delimiter character (such as ":", or "+") to separate the fields. For example, "London:Hackney".
- ID Code—Enter the code or number assigned to the device. You can enter text in any format. For example, "1234" or "99-ZZ".
- Device Name—Enter the name assigned to the device. You can enter text in any format. For example, "12345RTU678" or "High Street Sub".
- Point Descriptions—Use this check box to specify whether Geo SCADA Expert should include point descriptions in a configuration download to an outstation.
Ensure the check box is clear if you do not want to download point descriptions.
Select the check box if you want to download point descriptions. If the point does not have a description associated with it (that is, there is no entry in the Description field on the appropriate Analog or Binary Point form) then Geo SCADA Expert uses the point's Full Name as its description instead.
If the point's Full Name or Description is longer than 63 characters, Geo SCADA Expert truncates this point description to 60 characters and places an ellipsis (…) after the last character, to indicate the truncation.
