Unsolicited Message Generation
In addition to the usual unsolicited message configuration (see Unsolicited Messages in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the DNP3 Driver), on a SCADAPack E outstation you can specify:
- The port via which the outstation sends unsolicited messages to Geo SCADA Expert. This is specified using the DNP Master Port field within the Master 1 Configuration section on the outstation’s configuration Form (see Configure the Unsolicited Message Properties that are Specific to a Particular DNP3 Master).
- The minimum number of Class 1, 2, or 3 events that have to be stored in the outstation’s internal Event Buffer before that outstation is to attempt to send an unsolicited message to Geo SCADA Expert (see Configure Unsolicited Message Generation).
- Various timeouts associated with unsolicited message generation (see Configure Unsolicited Message Generation, and see Configure the Unsolicited Message Properties that are Specific to a Particular DNP3 Master).
- Which Class(es) are to be enabled by default (for example, when the outstation restarts)—see Configure Unsolicited Message Generation.
For each point on a SCADAPack E outstation, you can specify the type of DNP3 data Class with which the point’s events are associated. You can also specify whether the generation of such an event causes the outstation to send an unsolicited message to Geo SCADA Expert, or whether the outstation just stores the event in its internal Event Buffer (see Specify Whether a Class n Event Triggers an Unsolicited Message).
