Client-Specific Alarms List and Alarm Banner Preferences
This section summarizes those Alarms List and Alarm Banner options that a system administrator can configure on a per client basis. Such options, if required to differ from the defaults, should be specified on existing ClearSCADA Clients (workstations) when a ClearSCADA system is first installed, and then on new clients whenever they are added to the system. On each ViewX Client, you specify the options using the Options window.
You can use the Options window to specify:
- The Alarms and Events settings that are to apply to that particular client (see Specify the Preferred Alarm Banner and Alarms List Options on a ViewX Client).
- The format in which Lists are to be displayed on that particular client (see Specify the Preferred List Options on a ViewX Client in the ClearSCADA Guide to Lists).
For anyone who accesses the system without logging on via a User Account, use the Options window to define the client-specific Features that are available to the Guest User, including:
- Operational features, such as whether the Guest User actually has access to the Alarms List and Alarm Banner on that particular client.
- The Alarms and Events/List settings, including whether the Guest User can perform actions on multiple alarms on that particular client.
For information on configuring either of the above, see Define the Client Specific Settings for the Guest User in the ClearSCADA Guide to Security.
In addition to the above, whenever a ViewX client is added to the system, a system administrator has to specify the connection between that client and the system. This is done using the Client Configuration window. The window is also used to specify:
- The Workstation Name that applies to that particular ViewX workstation (client). The name identifies the client whenever alarm redirection is used to restrict the ability to acknowledge alarms to that particular workstation (see Define the Workstation Name for the ViewX Client in the ClearSCADA Guide to Client Administration).
For information on using alarm redirection to restrict the ability to acknowledge alarms, see Set Responsibility Action in the ClearSCADA Guide to Alarm Redirection.
