Welcome to the ClearSCADA Guide to Client Administration. This guide is designed to help you understand how ClearSCADA clients (ViewX, WebX, XML, and Third Party OPC) connect to your ClearSCADA system and provides information on client specific settings and features.
Intended Audience
The ClearSCADA Guide to Client Administration is aimed at administrator level users who are responsible for the initial set-up of client connections and settings. For information about the various ViewX and WebX features, you should refer to the ClearSCADA Guide to ViewX and WebX Clients.
Document Scope
This guide explains how ClearSCADA clients (ViewX, WebX, XML, and Third Party OPC) connect to your ClearSCADA system and provides information on client-specific settings and features.
In this guide, you will find information on:
- ViewX Client - System Connections—Explains how ViewX clients communicate with the ClearSCADA server and describes how to set up the ViewX client - system connection, check its status, and investigate any connection issues. It also provides information regarding the use of firewalls.
- ViewX Cache—Explains how ViewX clients use the ViewX cache, which stores documents in memory and in a folder on the client’s hard drive. The cache is used to improve performance when documents such as Mimics, Logic programs, and Trends are displayed.
- ViewX Options—Explains how you can use the Options window in ViewX to define settings that only affect the ViewX client PC on which you are working. These settings allow you to change the default appearance of Mimics, Trends, the Alarm Banner and Lists, as well as define a variety of other client specific settings.
