Parameters
Parameters are stored as configuration in the ClearSCADA database. Parameters are intended to store static values and can be used as an alternative to custom fields.
Create and configure a Parameter on your system if you require:
- a value that is not associated with plant
- a value that does not need any of the ‘overheads’ associated with internal points (see the bullet list in the Points section, above)
- a value that is intended to remain static (for instance, a string that displays the name of a particular geographical location)
- a value that can be imported from, or exported to, another ClearSCADA database. (Unlike Variables, Parameters are stored as configuration, and can therefore be exported or imported from one ClearSCADA database to another.)
If using String Parameters, consider using a Parameter Table, rather than a series of String Parameters, if a set of up to four String Parameters is required.
