Configuring DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Points

The ClearSCADA DNP3 SCADAPack E driver supports the following DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Point types:

You configure the properties of each binary point using the appropriate DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Point Form. Each Form has several tabs. This section covers configuration of properties on the Binary Point and Mapping tabs of both DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Point Forms, the Input tab of the DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Input Point Form, and the Control tab of the DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Output Point Form.

Binary points are referred to as Digital points on many other drivers and throughout much of the ClearSCADA documentation.

For DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Input Points and DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Output Points, use the Binary Point tab to:

For DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Input Points and DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Output Points that are Physical Inputs or Physical Outputs, use the Mapping tab to:

For DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Input Points, use the Input tab to:

For DNP3 SCADAPack Binary Output Points that can be controlled by ClearSCADA, there are two additional tabs: a Control Tab and a Control Checks tab.

Use the Control tab to:

For each DNP3 SCADAPack output point that ClearSCADA is to control exclusively, or for which point control alters between ClearSCADA and ISaGRAF, ensure that the point’s Control aggregate is enabled (see Specify Whether an Output Point is Controlled by ClearSCADA in the ClearSCADA Guide to the DNP3 Driver).
For each DNP3 SCADAPack output point that is controlled exclusively by another application, rather than ClearSCADA, you need to disable that point’s Control aggregate. For such points, fields on the Control tab are unavailable for use and you can ignore the above references.

You can optionally use the Control Checks tab to configure the Control Checks settings (see Configuring Control Checks Settings in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Point Configuration).

The properties on other tabs are common to points on many advanced drivers—for information, see Tabs on Point Forms in the ClearSCADA Guide to Advanced Drivers.

If the outstations on your system are to sample binary point data for data trends, you need to configure the required Trend item(s) in the database and associate those items with the relevant binary points (see Configuring DNP3 SCADAPack E Trend Sampler Functionality).
