Parent Point

Associated with: Derived Points (points that have a ‘parent’ point)

Some drivers support ‘derived’ points—points that calculate their value from the value of another point (the derived point’s Parent point).

This status attribute displays the name and location of the derived point’s parent point. This comprises the given name of the parent point (as specified on the derived point’s configuration Form), including the full path to that point in the database. Dot separators separate the various elements of the path (the hierarchy of groups within which the parent point resides).

Example:

Western Region.Area 1.Switch 5.
(Indicating that a derived point’s parent point is ‘Switch 5’. The parent point is located in the group ‘Area 1’, which itself is located in the ‘Western Region’ group.)
