Associating a Server with a License File

You can use the License Details window to associate a server with a license file.

When you purchase a ClearSCADA system, Schneider Electric provide a license dongle or a license file. The server automatically detects dongle settings (when the dongle is plugged in to the relevant port on the server), but if you are using a license file, you will need to specify the location of the file. To do this, you can use the ClearSCADA Server Configuration Tool.

By default, the license file is located with the ClearSCADA installed files at:

C:\Program Files\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\ClearSCADA.lic.

If your license file is at a different location, you will need to associate it with the server by defining its location:

  1. Use Windows Explorer to place your license file in the required location.
  2. Display the License Details window (see Displaying the License Details Window).
  3. Use the Browse button feature in the License File section to select the new location of the license file.
  4. Select the OK button. The settings you defined are confirmed and the ClearSCADA Server Configuration Tool is closed.

The license settings that are defined for the license file or dongle are detected by the server automatically (as long as the server can locate the license file or detect the dongle in a parallel port or USB port).

When you have finished specifying the location of the license file, you can continue with the server configuration. If you are unfamiliar with the server configuration process, we recommend that you proceed to learn how to Start and Stop the System Server.

To allow a ViewX client to connect with the server, you may also need to Associate a ViewX Client - System Connection with a Client License.
