Prerequisite Components

ClearSCADA is designed to run on a computer that has certain other components installed. The components comprise a combination of the following:

• Visual C++ 2005 x86 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2005 x64 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2008 SP1 x86 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2008 SP1 x64 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2010 SP1 x86 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2010 SP1 x64 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 x86 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 x64 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2013 x86 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2013 x64 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2015 Update 3 x86 Redistributables
• Visual C++ 2015 Update 3 x64 Redistributables
• .NET 3.5 Full Runtime
  

  With Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 Release 2, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, you must turn on this feature in Windows before you run Setup. To do this, use Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel. For more information, see the Windows Help.

  The SAP Crystal Reports runtime components are NOT installed by default. If you intend to install them you must purchase a Crystal Reports runtime license for each server on which these components are to be operational (clients do not need a license to use the runtime components). For servers on which the runtime components are operational, the Crystal Reports runtime license is included with the ClearSCADA Crystal Reports driver license. Please contact your Schneider sales representative for more information.

  If you intend using Crystal Reports on your system, you also need to install the Crystal Reports prerequisites and driver on any Permanent Standby servers, in order for the ClearSCADA database to synchronize. However, as the Permanent Standby ClearSCADA servers do not require the Crystal Reports driver to be operational, they do not require a Crystal Reports runtime license. (On the Modules tab on the Server Status Tool of such servers, the Crystal Reports driver will show a red 'No License' state due to the lack of runtime license. This is expected on Permanent Standby servers. On all other servers on systems that use Crystal Reports, the Crystal Reports driver and runtime components must be licensed.)

• OPC Factory Server v3.60 (32-bit).

DO NOT UNINSTALL PREREQUISITE COMPONENTS

Uninstalling the prerequisite components may result in ClearSCADA being unable to provide access to certain features, or being unable to run. It could also affect system security. For these reasons, do not uninstall the prerequisite components.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

When you install ClearSCADA, the components that are essential for ClearSCADA to run on your operating system are installed automatically. A prompt is displayed for non-essential components, allowing you to choose the components that are relevant to your system.

We suggest that you only choose to install components that you need for your system. For example, you only need to install the:

• Visual C++ 2005 Redistributables if your system is using SAP Crystal Reports 2013 or SAP Crystal Reports 2016
• Visual C++ 2013 Redistributables if you are exporting historic data to Wonderware Historian. For more information about Wonderware Historian, see Introduction to the Wonderware Historian Driver
• SAP Crystal Reports Runtime Engine if your system is using SAP Crystal Reports 2013 or SAP Crystal Reports 2016
• Safenet Sentinel Protection Drivers if your computers are using dongles (rather than files) for licensing

• OPC Factory Server v3.60, which is the Schneider Electric OPC server used to connect OPC clients to all Schneider Electric PLCs ( Modicon Quantum, Premium, M340, Micro, Nano, Momentum, and so on.).

  When used with Unity PRO PLCs, it provides a native and direct symbolic access to any located or unallocated variable from the PLC.

  ClearSCADA can only install OPC Factory Server on a computer that does not have any version of OPC Factory Server currently installed. If you need to install ClearSCADA on a computer that does have a version of OPC Factory Server installed, you will need to uninstall OPC Factory Server (using Windows) and then run the ClearSCADA installer again. If your system does not use Schneider Electric PLCs, you can choose to not install OPC Factory Server at all.

  If you are installing the prerequisites on an operating system other than Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 Release 2, please exclude the OPC Factory Server as it may cause an installer error. OPC Factory Server is not currently compatible with the other operating systems that are supported by ClearSCADA.

Installing components that are not needed on your system uses up disk space unnecessarily.
