Welcome to the ViewX and WebX Clients Guide

Intended Audience

This guide is primarily intended for operator-level users. The guide can also be used by engineers and other users who need to familiarize themselves with the features listed below.

In this Guide you will learn how to use the operator features of the two user interfaces provided with ClearSCADA:

If you are new to ClearSCADA, please see Understanding Your System, which describes the various components that comprise a ClearSCADA system.

Both ViewX and WebX clients provide access to a variety of displays that you might use as a ClearSCADA operator, including:

You can access these displays via the Explorer Bars, or the Object Menu on either a ViewX or WebX client. You can also store frequently accessed displays as Favorites.

The displays provide access to the information you need as well as the methods and pick actions you will use to interact with your SCADA system.

Throughout this guide, the ViewX Client is used to describe how to perform operations. The section on the WebX Client describes the WebX interface, and explains how basic navigation and operations in WebX differ from ViewX.

CAUTION

POTENTIAL LOSS OF POWER

When using a portable (laptop) computer on battery power alone, power could be lost at a critical point in the operation of the ViewX or WebX client.

If you are using a portable (laptop) computer you should ensure that it is connected to a permanent source of power when performing important tasks

Failure to follow these instructions can result in injury or equipment damage.
