Window Container

You use Window Containers to control how a ViewX client displays on a Multi-Monitor setup. Each Window Container hosts specific components of the client interface on a particular monitor, creating a distributed arrangement that displays in the same way each time ViewX opens.

You use a Startup Configuration File to define the number of Window Containers that are included in a Multi-Monitor setup, and to associate each Window Container with one of the monitors that the Windows operating system detects. You can also use the Startup Configuration file to define any documents that display automatically in each Window Container whenever you start ViewX.

There are two types of Window Container:

A Multi-Monitor setup can include one Primary Window Container, and up to 5 Secondary Window Containers.

All Window Containers include the following:

If the Window Container is displayed in Full Screen mode, only the Log On/Log Off commands will appear.

The Close button is only visible in the Primary Window Container and will close all of the Window Containers associated with that ViewX client and will then exit the ViewX client.

If required, you can use the Confirm ViewX Close option to display a confirmation dialog when the Close button is used (see Miscellaneous Options for ViewX Clients).

With a Multi-Monitor setup, the Alarm Banner can be displayed in one or more Windows Containers.

NOTICE

unexpected behavior OF APPLICATION

Startup Configuration files are intended only for use on ViewX clients that are required to launch Geo SCADA Expert on a Multi-Monitor setup, and/or have customized Window Container behavior.
Do not use Startup Configuration files on Virtual ViewX clients, as these clients only support a single monitor setup, and do not support the same customized behavior. Using a Startup Configuration file on such a client could result in unexpected behavior. (Startup Configuration files are not supported, and are ignored, on Original WebX clients.)
Failure to follow these instructions can result in inoperable equipment.
