When you create the outstation, most of the configuration fields can be left at their default values. The only fields you need to change for this tutorial are:
- In Service—Located on the Outstation tab. Ensure that the check box is selected so that it displays a check mark.
- Outstation Set—Located on the Outstation tab. Specify the DNP3 Direct Outstation Set created above (see Create a DNP3 Direct Outstation Set).
- Address—Located on the DNP3 tab. Set to 0.
- Allow Automatic Download—Located on the SCADAPack tab. Ensure that the check box is selected so that it displays a check mark.
- Outstation Type—Located on the Outstation Type tab. Ensure that this is set to SCADAPack ES.

Geo SCADA Expert will raise a Communication State - Failed alarm when you save the outstation’s configuration, as the outstation is not powered up.
Once you have configured the outstation in Geo SCADA Expert, you can proceed to Create a DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Output Point.
