This section applies only to SCADAPack 5000 Series IO Forms.
When applicable, use the fields within the Module Specific Configuration section of the 5000 Series tab to specify further module-specific properties. The field(s) only apply when certain Module Type options are specified (the fields are ‘grayed out’ when not applicable).
Filter
Use the combo box to specify the filter rate that is used to reduce process variations or interference in each analog input channel. The options vary, depending on the Module Type.
Analog Input Average
The Analog Input Average and Analog Input Rate fields are provided for the 6601 I/O expansion module. This module is available with SCADAPack 530E/535E Outstations (see Specify the Outstation Type). You can use these fields to reduce noise in analog input channels.
This field allows you to select the number of analog input sample values that are collected before the averaging calculation is applied. Averaging is equivalent to low-pass filtering. You can choose from one of the following:
2 Samples
This option averages the value of the current sample and the previous sample. It replaces the current sample value with the average value and provides the fastest averaging, but allows more noise to pass through the analog input channel than the other options.
Noise suppression starts at 8 Hz.
3 Samples
This option averages the value of the current sample with the previous sample and the next sample. It replaces the current sample value with the average value and provides the middle levels of averaging and noise suppression compared to the other options.
Noise suppression starts at 5 Hz.
8 samples
This averages the value of 8 samples starting from the current sample. It replaces the fourth sample value with the average value and provides the highest level of smoothing and noise suppression, but calculating the average value takes longer than the other options.
Noise suppression starts at 3 Hz.
None
No sample values are collected or averaged.
Line Frequency
Use the combo box to specify the frequency of the mains supply to the module. Specifying the relevant frequency should help to improve any AC noise interference during analog input measurements.
Analog Input Rate
This field allows you to select the rate at which the analog inputs are sampled:
FAST
Select this option if you need the fastest possible sampling rate for analog inputs and filtering noise at 50/60 Hz is not required.
50/60 Hz Filter
Select this option if you need to filter noise at 50/60 Hz and a sampling rate that is slower than the fastest possible sampling rate is adequate. Filtering noise at 50/60 Hz can be required when equipment such as power supplies that generate noise in this frequency range are nearby.
These input filters are applied when the Analog Input Rate field is set to FAST. If the Analog Input Rate field is set to 50/60 Hz, the input filter values will increase approximately 10-fold.
Output Type
Use the combo box to specify the current range that applies to the outputs on this module.
