Configure the Serial Port Power Settings
You can control whether to provide power to pin 1 of the RJ45 connector for each serial port on a SCADAPack x70 device. When enabled, you can use this to power a Human Machine Interface (HMI) or other devices.
Use the General Setup section on each SCADAPack x70 Device Configuration item’s Serial Settings tab to specify whether you want such power to be available from each serial port.
Clear this check box (the default) if you do not want power to be provided by pin 1 on each serial port.
Select the check box if you do want 5 Vdc power to be provided by pin 1 of the RJ45 connector on each serial port.
Alternatively, you can use SCADAPack x70 logic to turn the power on and off as required, and/or monitor the current state of the power pins. To enable this, configure a SCADAPack x70 Digital Configuration item so that its configuration includes the following:
- Set the Device Configuration field to reference this SCADAPack x70 Device Configuration item (see Properties that are Common to Configuration Items)
- Set the Mapping tab to 'System Data' (see Configure the Properties on the Mapping Tab)
- Set the System Data Reference to '
SYS_INFO_SerialPortPowerOn
' - Specify a valid DNP3 Point Number (to identify the point's location in the SCADAPack x70 device).
