In this section, we explain how to use the Client Licensing window to associate a ViewX client - System connection with a valid license file. For information on how to use this window to associate Third Party OPC and Third Party ODBC connections with client licenses, please refer to Associate a Third-Party OPC Client - System with an OPC License and Associate a Third-Party ODBC Client - System with a Data Access License.
If you have enabled client licensing Enable or Disable Client Licensing, you will need to associate the ViewX client - system connection with a client license file. Supplied with your system, the client license file defines:
- The amount of time for which the client can connect to systems via the client - system connection. When this time period passes, the license expires and a new license will be required
- The versions of ViewX to which the client can connect via the client - system connection
- The number of ViewX systems to which the client can connect via the client - system connection
- The number of OPC systems to which the client can connect via the client - system connection
- The number of data access systems to which the client can connect via the client - system connection.
The settings for your client license are determined when you purchase Geo SCADA Expert. If you contact the sales representative that sold the product to you, they will be able to provide additional detail about the specific limits of your license.
To associate your client license with a client - system connection:
- Display the Client Configuration Window.
- Select the connection with which you want to associate the client license.
- Select the Licenses button on the Client Configuration window to display the Client Licensing Window.
- Use the browse button next to the License File field to display a browse window.
- Use the browse window to locate the client license file that was supplied with your system, then select the OK button to confirm your selection.
The client license file is now associated with your client - system connection and its details are shown in the Client Licensing window. - Select the OK button to close the Client Licensing window.
