DNP3 Device Profiles

When you install the Geo SCADA Expert DNP3 driver, the installation adds two device profiles to Geo SCADA Expert. The profiles are:

• Geo SCADA Expert DNP Master Device Profile.xml

• Geo SCADA Expert DNP Slave Device Profile.xml

You can use these profiles to view the DNP3 Master or DNP3 Slave features that Geo SCADA Expert supports. Each Geo SCADA Expert device profile is an XML file that you can display in a web browser.

To view the device profiles, follow these steps:

1. In Windows Explorer, browse to the InteropDocuments folder (this is where the DNP3 driver installation places the device profiles). The default location of this folder depends on the version of the Windows operating system installed on your computer (see File Locations (Default) in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Installation).

2. Double-click on the device profile file that matches the DNP3 version that you want to use.
   The xml device profile opens in a web browser. The browser displays the device profile information as a table.

   

The entries in the Capabilities column show the DNP3 features that Geo SCADA Expert supports.

The layout and format of the device profiles is defined by dnp.org and is standard across all DNP3 devices. For further information on the DNP3 protocol, see www.dnp.org.
