The properties described in this topic apply both to User Forms and User Pattern Forms. (User Patterns only apply to systems on which Geo SCADA Expert can create new User accounts automatically as part of an External Authentication process. For more information, see Create User Accounts from a User Pattern.)
You can configure a user account so that users that log on via the account can only access certain Explorer Bars. For example, you can choose to limit a user account so that it only has access to the Queries Bar and cannot access the Database Bar or OPC Bars. This is useful when there are users that only require limited access to the system, for example, there may be management level users that only require access to the current data on the system and so only need to use the Queries Bar.
Use the ViewX tab on a User Form (or, if applicable, the User Pattern Form) to define which Explorer Bars a user can access when they log on from a ViewX or Virtual ViewX client:

Either:
- Display the relevant User Form (to define the settings that apply to an individual User account).
- Display the relevant User Pattern Form (if applicable to your system, to define the settings that Geo SCADA Expert is to apply to new User accounts that it might be triggered to create automatically at logon.)
- Select the ViewX tab.
- Select the check box for each Explorer Bar that you want to be made available to the user that logs on via this account.
The Explorer Bars are:
- Database Bar—Provides access to the system's database items.
- OPC Data Bar—Provides access to the OPC tags for the system's database items.
- Favorites—Provides access to the user's selected favorite displays.
- Queries—Provides access to SQL Query lists.
- OPC Historic—Provides access to the OPC Historic tags for the system's database items.
- Operator Documents—Provides access to the documents that are included in the operator document store for the user. For more information on Operator Document Stores, see Operator Document Stores in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to ViewX and Virtual ViewX Clients.
- Areas of Interest—Provides access to the Areas of Interest hierarchy that you can use to create and re-organize a hierarchy of Areas.
Clear the check box for each explorer bar that you want to be unavailable to the user that logs on via this account.
