ViewX and Virtual ViewX are not the only ways to access your system—Geo SCADA Expert can be accessed via third-party applications, for example, OPC clients. To help secure your system, the Geo SCADA Expert security settings are applied to every client. When a user is restricted to having read only permissions for a point in Geo SCADA Expert, the user will also be limited to read only permissions if the user accesses the point via OPC or any other third-party application.
Third-party applications that do not support client security will access the system through the Guest user account and will use the access permissions of the Guest user account. (see Guest User Account and Everyone User Group).
User Groups and user accounts are only applicable if the Security setting is enabled. You can enable Security by using the Server Configuration Tool (see Define the Default Security Settings for New User Accounts).
