Configure the Line and Marker Properties when in 'Connect by Timestamp' or 'Connect by Point and Timestamp' Mode
The means by which you specify the properties that are associated with a trace's line and markers varies, depending on the X-Y-Z Plot's 'Drawing Mode' (see Configure the Background Color and Drawing Mode). When the 'Drawing Mode' is set to 'Connect by Timestamp' or 'Connect by Point and Timestamp', you configure the properties using fields in the X-Y-Z Plot Properties window. For information on displaying the X-Y-Z Plot Properties window, see Change the Appearance of an X-Y-Z Plot.
(When the Drawing Mode is set to 'Connect by Point', the fields below are 'grayed out' and unavailable for use in the X-Y-Z Plot Properties window.)
Use the Line section of the window to specify these properties:
- Color: Use the Color button to specify the required color. You can select a color from the Color Palette or select the ... option to display the Color window. You can use the Color window to create a custom color (see Using the Color Window in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Configuration).
- Style: Use this combo box to define the appearance of the line that Geo SCADA Expert draws between the values. You can select a solid line or a dashed line (there are several types of dashed line).
- Width: Use this spin box to specify the thickness of the line.
With the above properties, be aware that:
- When the Drawing Mode is set to 'Connect by Timestamp', the Color field is 'grayed out' and unavailable for use in the X-Y-Z Plot Properties window. With this mode, Geo SCADA Expert sets the Line color automatically, from a hard-coded pre-defined set of colors. This automatic selection is designed to help provide colors that contrast well with the X-Y-Z Plot's Background Color.
- When the Drawing Mode is set to 'Connect by Point and Timestamp', the properties in the Line section of the X-Y-Z Plot Properties window determine the properties of the lines that Geo SCADA Expert draws between both the trace values and values that have the same time stamps.
Use the Markers section of the window to specify these properties:
- Size: Use this combo box to define the size of the markers. You can choose a size from 1 (the smallest size) to 5 (the largest size).
- Style: Use the combo box to specify the shape of the markers. You can choose Diamond, Square, or Cross shapes.
