Configure the Connection to Master
Use the fields within the Connection to Master section of the DNP3 Slave tab to specify how many masters will communicate with the outstation and configure the settings that apply when the SCADAPack x70 device attempts to send an unsolicited event message to a master.
Use this combo box to select the number of masters with which the outstation is to communicate. The maximum available is three. One of the masters should be this Geo SCADA Expert system. Other master(s) might comprise other Geo SCADA Expert system(s) or third-party DNP3 master(s). Any of the masters can be the 'local' master—the master that is being used to configure the outstation.
If you are connecting to more than one master the fields associated with those master(s) become active.
If the outstation is configured to communicate with multiple masters, other field(s) become available on the configuration Forms of the points on this device.
Use to specify the address of the outstation as used by the master when communicating with this outstation. Values can be 0 to 65519, default is 0.
Use to specify the address of the master with which the outstation communicates. Values can be 0 to 65519, default is 30000.
Select the check box if the outstation is to send event data to the DNP3 master using unsolicited messages. Other fields within this section of the tab become available for use. When this check box is selected, the DNP3 Routing table has to have a corresponding route that includes the DNP3 Outstation Address in the Source address range and the DNP3 Controlling Station Address in the Destination address range (see Add and Configure the Entries in a DNP3 Routing Table).
Ensure that the check box is clear if the outstation is to send event data to the DNP3 master only in response to requests from that DNP3 master. This is the default setting.
Use this combo box to specify the port via which the outstation is to send unsolicited messages to the DNP3 master. You can only specify a port that has its Function set to DNP3 or PPP/TCPIP(see Device Configuration Serial Port Tabs). If you specify an Ethernet port, you also have to Set up the Ethernet Link Layer. The number of serial and Ethernet ports depends on the SCADAPack model.
Specify the minimum time between consecutive unsolicited messages sent by the outstation. This field is available if unsolicited messages are allowed. The default setting is 30 seconds.
Enter the required interval in the OPC Time Format. You can enter the value directly in the field, or use the Interval window (accessed via the field's browse button) to specify the required value.
Specify the amount of time that the outstation is to wait if it has tried to send an unsolicited message for the maximum number of Unsolicited Attempts Per Burst and has still not received a response from the DNP3 master (see Unsolicited Configuration).
Once the Quiet Time Delay has elapsed, the outstation will attempt to resend the unsolicited message for up to the maximum number of Unsolicited Attempts per Burst again. This cycle is repeated until it receives a response from the DNP3 master. The default is 2 minutes.
Specify the maximum amount of time that the outstation waits for:
- Confirmation of an unsolicited response sent to the DNP3 master.
- Confirmation of a poll response that contains event data.
When the outstation receives the confirmation, the events that were sent in the response are deleted from the outstation’s internal Event Buffer.
The default is 16 seconds. Enter the required interval in the OPC Time Format. You can enter the value directly in the field, or use the Interval window (accessed via the field's browse button) to specify the required value.
