Create an Analog Input Point
Add a SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Analog Input Point to the database. This type of database item is available from the DNP3 sub-branch within the SCADAPack x70 branch of the Create New menu. The sub-branch corresponds to the communications protocol that Geo SCADA Expert is to use to communicate with the SCADAPack 575.
When you create the point, you can leave most of the configuration fields at their default values.
On the Analog Point tab of the configuration Form, the only fields that you need to change for this tutorial are:
- In Service—Select this check box so that it displays a check mark.
- Outstation—Specify the SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Direct Outstation that you created earlier in this tutorial.
- SCADAPack x70 Object—Specify the SCADAPack x70 Analog Configuration item called PIO_SP575_AI1 that was created when you imported the configuration from RemoteConnect earlier in this tutorial.
- Historic Data Filter—(This field is within the Logged Data section, towards the bottom of the Analog Point tab.) Set to Static and Event Data.
On the Historic tab:
- Enabled—Select this check box so that it displays a check mark.
Save the configuration. Notice that the DNP3 Point Number field is populated with the value that you specified for the corresponding field on the SCADAPack x70 Analog Configuration item that you referenced above.
Once you have configured the analog input point, you can proceed to Create an Analog Output Point.
Further Information
For further information about configuring a SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Analog Input Point, see Configure Analog Points for DNP3 Communications.
Instead of manually creating a SCADAPack x70 protocol-specific Point, you can use the Create Protocol Point pick action to create the point from the Configuration item with which it is to be associated. This means of point creation will associate the point automatically with the Configuration item from which the pick action was triggered. For more information, including essential checks to perform before using the pick action, see Create Protocol Point.
